A, unfamiliar with such wild dry terrain, wants to bushhog much of the sage &weed filled plains stating it looks like a badly kempt lawn. His other big observation was the 'stunning lack of shade.' We got our kicks on 66 in OK at the museum &in TX at the Devils Rope Museum. A also thought this charming collection of old tools, barb wire, &cattle brands was a hoot. Our destination for the evening was Lake Meredith &we were pleased to get there in daylight hours &look around after last night's debacle. There is no lake &the campground looks abandoned. We drove further trying another site along the river. Even further off the beaten track& also empty. We didn't want to set up camp in an empty place for fear of theft so we headed to Amarillo-the Big Texan Steak Ranch. After enjoying delicious spirits we decided it was probably better to consume more spirits &just stay next door. Though A
wouldn't, 2 men tried the 72oz steak challenge &1 succeeded! I'll stick with 8oz, beer, &carrot cake.
