East Rim Observation Point

This day we tackled the last trails in Zion. It was cooler(85), cloudy, but humid(60%). The East Rim to the ObservationPt was easily my fav hike of all bc of it's varying geology, change of scenery, &elevation gain (the top!). The slot canyon with its wavy potholes& channels was gorgeous. From the pt there was a great view of Angel's Landing far below. It was gray all morning &the storm hit as we started our descent with blasting winds, thunder, &a sprinkle of rain. We booked it down not wanting to be on the exposed cliff and descended 2miles in 40min. We got blasted by sand, but luckily not lightning. Then it cleared up! Hidden Canyon branched off &was kinda boring though the hike around the sandstone cliffface was fun &had chains for support on the narrow ledge. We hiked the steep .5mi to Weeping Rock with the other tourists &headed home. I can stand 4days of sweat&funk but had to
swim in the creek to get rid of the gritty sand. Timing was off though bc it started to rain afterwards
