Red Mountain hike with the Rudas

Yesterday we hiked Red Mountain north of Flag- the Martinaks &all the Rudas. It was an easy uphill slope thru scrubby trees &a dry wash until we reached the cinder pile &a short ladder. Once up the ladder, precarious with babes in packs, we were within the caldera of an extinct eroded volcano with fun rock formations to climb &explore. The rocks were gritty &easy to grip so the adults climbed up&over to take epic photos (like this one of A). There were also labyrinth like channels cutting canyons with steep narrow walls that were neat to explore. Even Panzer enjoyed running around, though he wanted help going up&down the small hills which were kinda slippery with gravel. Mohs just looked around wide-eyed. It was an out &back hike but nice because the destination was interesting to explore. Afterwards we headed to Flag for delicious pizza. I'll post fun pictures soon when I have internet
