James could not contain his excitement about National Donut Day, so we made an evening outing of it and the whole family went. Of course, hilarity and sarcastic comments abounded - even with the help of other donut-chasers.

Dunkin Donuts was offering a donut of choice with a purchase of a drink so we went there first so as to have our coffee for both sets of donuts. It was pretty empty and the selection was low, but three coffees and three donuts later we were on our way to Krispy Kreme. Dad got Karrie's donut, while she got the coffee.

The line at Krispy Kreme was monstrous and wrapped around the inside of the store, probably because there is only one Krispy Kreme in Greenville. We decided to take our coffees in with us to make the wait.
Krispy Kreme had vastly more entertainment because of the donut production line and for all the people watching while in line. We got to watch one of the workers stuff a donut in her mouth (maybe it was a greasy hamburger we decided) and then there was this other lady packing boxes for retail sale who could palm four donuts (!) at one time (!) without crushing them(!).

We thought we had read online that it was only original glazed donuts for free at Krispy Kreme - but turns out (or maybe they were just tired of arguing with people) that it was any donut and they refreshed all the donuts as we approached the front of the line - four custard kremes for us!
I of course documented the evening on film and got comical photos of everyone.

Karrie's bavarian creme impression was fantastic :). James commented that he expected to see more fat people than we did - course most of the donut workers were not small. And James said the outing was fun about six dozen times... so it was a success!
