the seven o clock rule

today i broke the seven o clock rule. i have broken it before, once, by half an hour, but today i got up really early. the seven o'clock rule is that i am not going to get up before seven to do any sort of excercise.

today i wanted to meet dad and uncle jim for breakfast at ihop. which meant i had to get up earlier than seven if i wanted to run and get there in time. and i wanted to run today bc i have to work at 8 every day this week and i will not have time to run, unless i break the seven o clock rule.

so today i got up at FIVE THIRTY, jogged four miles, and then went to IHOP to have cheesecake pancakes with my dad and uncle jim. well worth the hilarity of listening to the two of them bickering... and of course the pancakes. would have been better if they had carrot cake pancakes, but those went out on yesterday (they were fantastic). and i probably will have to break the seven o clock rule some other days this week. bc i know i wont want to run when i get home in the evening.

  1. Hey, I also got up at 5:30 to work out before our delicious breakfast meeting. we so much appreciated your company, the festive air it lent the occaision, and your rule-breaking efforts to join us. bickering to the outside world, caring exploration of various issues to us.

  2. for entertainment...AND ihop...i would say it is worth it! just make sure you don't have to break that rule too often!

  3. i got up at 5AM this morning to be in court by 8AM ... to give my currently incarcerated client a choice between legitimizing his infant child or going to prison for 5-25 years for sexual misconduct on a minor (the child's mother). i'd trade that for ANY TYPE of pancakes any day (although the paradise banana split pancakes are my favorite :)
