still kicking it

so i am still alive. i cant remember when i last made a post... thought it had been a while. so exciting times... went back to palmerston north to visit with toby and got my ass handed to me in the hiking department. you would think after hiking and doing outside things for the last two months i would be in better shape... nope i still suck wind going up hills and there is no way i can keep up with toby. to be fair he is an excercise guru and teaches physiology at massey university. i still thought i would do better.

i have had some exciting adventures in the last few days that i will go into more detail later, but here are some teasers.

i narrowly missed being sprayed by projectile gannet poo at the gannet colony.

i visited a republic whilst in new zealand and had to purchase a new passport in order to cross the border because i had forgotten mine. all hail the republic of whangamamona.

i had a day of cold and wet and did some spelunking, glow worm spotting, and underground water tubing. then to follow that up i rolled down the hill in a giant beach ball filled with water (zorbing)

i breathed deeply the sulfurous fumes of rotorua and dipped my toes in a hot spring on the beach.

so more details later when i can elaborate and hopefully put in some pics. at this rate it will be when i am back in california but such is life. but i have posted some pics recently... check them out (yes i know i am still weeks behind).

off to the eastern cape to hopefully catch the first sunrise of the day (which is still a day ahead of you - bc right now you are a day behind me).
