making out with elephant seals

once upon a time i visited hot mel and we went and played with the elephant seals AKA took some blood samples and and painted numbers on them. mostly i just stared and pretended to be a hardcore seal biologist. i do remember giggling with jamie (also visiting) quite a bit and taking silly pictures.

yesterday, hot mel, sarah ann, and i cruised around the city hanging out and came upon some seals to make out with. we took quite a lot of pictures - it was hard picking these. unfortunately i do not have any of sarah ann.

then we met some of mel's friends for drink and ate some pizza met some more friends for drinks and then came home for sleep. i like meeting all these people bc they are fabulously interesting science nerds and lots of them have been to aussie and nz so they can tell me cool things. and sometimes they invite me to join in their field work - maybe i will join sarah for some turtle work in africa... i might hitch a ride in cory's bag to go work with emperor penguins... or learn more about sea palms with sarah ann and go visit her in BC. or maybe i just need to visit hot mel more often so i can continue to make out with pinnipeds - sea lions for her phd though.

so i am superpacked - i am not opening the bag anymore and ready to see laura princess of the whales. sarah ann is going to oakland today anyway so it is convenient for her to drop me off at the airport. pen is ready to meet up with me in sydney. i am scheming with larry to see the outback. and i am resigned to my two pairs of pants wardrobe. but i did get a PINK capilene shirt at the patagonia outlet for ten dollars - such a deal that mel and sarah ann have matching ones. :)
