driving therapy

the best therapy for me is to get in the car, put on a bandanna, roll down the windows, and blast the music and sing along. and when i am not singing it gives me a lot of time to think about all the things rolling around in my head (which lately has been a lot). and if you get cell reception (which often i do not) you can catch up with people - although this often means rolling the windows back up.

i've been driving mom's car bc mine was being packed and is on it's way to arizona and i have had the joy of satellite radio and some awesome classic rock stations - what can be better than belting sweet child o mine at the top of your lungs? followed by some acdc or a monster ballad? except i guess i live or travel enough in the sticks that even the satellites cant find me and the radio skips.

if anyone else needs this kind of therapy i recommend 522 or 33 towards the mountains. there is not a lot to see other than green (slowly changing to fall colors) hills and mountains and quaint little towns (where you have to slow down to 35 mph but there isn't a place you can stop to pee). or skyline drive and the blue ridge parkway as soon as the leaves start changing.

i realize that driving is a huge waste of fossil fuels, but if the alternative cost was real therapy, i think driving is cheaper and a lot more fun. :)

  1. driving therapy is good...especially in a little red car or on a motorcycle, for me anyway. i am glad to hear that my "yard work" therapy is appreciated too!
