biscuits and gravy

biscuits and gravy. yum.

i have not always loved this breakfast dish, but it has become a staple for me when mom and i go to joe's for breakfast which when i am home is usually every weekend or every other weekend. i took a poll once in my classroom on where you could get the best biscuits and gravy and it was a tie between joe's and sarah's grandmother's (which i had not sampled but several other people had). it's very much a southern breakfast - like grits. people in the north always mess up grits by treating it like cream of wheat and trying to put maple syrup on it. gross. grits are best with butter and cheese and salt. (funny side note grits are girls raised in the south - fitting acronym)

joe's is a hole in the wall restaurant that would never make any restaurant polls, but in a small town like mineral everyone eats there because the food is good and you always see someone you know. i love eating breakfast there. another fun thing to do is see hoe many different ways parmigian is spelled on the lunch and dinner menu, although i think this may have been corrected by now.

i have had my biscuits and gravy and now i have the energy to tackle my room, packing, and planning. or maybe i am ready to go take a nap.

  2. I'm glad someone else noticed the parmigiana/parmesean/parmeaesana phenomena on their menu. It drives me batty.

Up north they like to put syrup on girls raised in the south? Too much info, Kim. :)
