we are now in yellowstone! we drove north this morning from teton. on the way to our campsite we had our first thermal experience at west thumb basin which is full of blue hot pools & mud pots. after making camp we hiked the entire north rim of grand canyon of yellowstone including several vistas & to the edge of both the lower & upper falls. it was a loooong walk back (then i posed for the stunning photo). we drove to norris & carried our steaming camp dinner to a boardwalk overlooking some active steaming bubbling geysers. my plan of going popular places in the evening worked perfectly bc we had the whole place to ourselves - awesome bc half the coolness of the features is listening to them. aaron is amazed that the EARTH is making those noises. norris is a big flat area with a wide variety of features. we both thought steamboat geyser was neat, but we also saw other cool geysers spurting at a distance. aaron nearly smashed a bison on the way home, bc it was moseying the white line
good thing aaron knows a bison in the grill is not good... and he is learning the earth farts like he does??
ReplyDeletedo they let you keep the bison meat if you hit it?? kinda like the TN roadkill laws? =D
