sending a sulfur-y smell-o-gram

this is sulfur cauldron a roiling acidic pool with a pH of 2! this morning we drove north to mammoth to see the terraces - stair like formations with pools of dribbling hot water. we ate breakfast at the cafe and hiked beaver pond trail which looped up over the surrounding hillsides and across the border into montana! it was gorgeous with fields of wildflowers, tree filled dells & singing birds, but no moose. we drove to MT to poke around and then south to more thermal features. my fav mudpot was paula deen approved bc it mysteriously smelled like bacon but looked like bubbling mayo. aaron's still impressed with what the earth can do & says: 'it's mind-boggling how exceptionally different they are' & he wishes he could send you a sulfury moist thermal pool smell-o-gram. we're pretty beat between long days, cool evenings, sunburns, blisters (K4.A0), & avg hiking 10miles a day, but we are
still excited to see what's next -just doing it a bit more slowly. ps date46 (3mon)... still smiling

  1. this is what i like best..."cool evenings, sunburns, blisters (K4.A0), & avg hiking 10miles a day"--do you think you could just sit for a day...and enjoy!?!?
