promising?

i have a date tonight. in one hour exactly. weird.

when was i last on a date? the last dates i went on were in september and i have fond memories of drawing on tablecloths, going to the beach, and eating ice cream. i cannot remember the last time i went on a date with someone that i didnt already know. maybe two years ago. and when was the last time i went on a date with someone i met at a bar... oh wait... NEVER. well there was this one time it might have happened... but he lost his phone that night in a cab and in the interim (two days) got back together with his girlfriend. my dating history is actually pretty pathetic (dumped at the prom, dumped for my best friend, dumped bc he didnt want a gf but then had a new one within a week). despite this awful past, i have been somewhat lucky to date some really interesting and great guys.

so how did this start? i walked up to him and complemented him on his white fedora. i must admit that i was stoked that he gave me his number - and i didnt even ask. claye, my fav bartender at the RED, was surprised how stoked i was, and then felt the need to write his number on my other hand so i could be super-stoked.

i was sure he wouldn't call me and i was right. i was sure that he wouldnt remember an invite to breakfast and i was right. so right from the beginning i pessimistically shrugged it off and decided that it wasn't going to happen.

well i have a date tonight and i am still shrugging. what is the point? i dont live here, i am leaving for a weekend trip tomorrow and when i get back from that i will embark on a cross country trip. who knows if there is a point, but mel points out to me that he might be my soulmate and that i cannot leave the house wearing this hoodie. so i guess i will go decide what to wear.
