after a not so comfy night at the melbourne airport - they did have a coffee shop open all night - i arrived in sydney in the rain. (again tired of the rain, but when everyone is so happy that it is raining during their drought, you cannot complain)
i let myself into pen's back gate and then into the back door. 5 people at the counter were kind of looking at me, and gab said, yeah i've met her before. it is party time at pen and meg's. meg and gab and pen are all home as well as a couchsurfer nicole, sister jane and husband lloyd. jane left, and now couchsurfer robyn is here. and last night we had a sleepover with a welsh dude in the living room. full house but amusing.
yesterday i ran around and did errands with nicole so that she can start nursing in manly beach on the north side of sydney. then we went on a search for hats or funny flowery hair pieces that were less than five dollars for the melbourne cup. after a while we were successful and then we went and met pen and jane in the bar for drinking and betting and carrying on with our hair pieces. hilarious. pics tomorrow. i did not win any money on any races. pen won 35 bucks and jane won some money and nicole won 17. poor me. i think i like going to to dog track better - just need to carry on with the hair pieces and silly dresses to make it really interesting.
we came home and relaxed, ate some barbecues kangaroo and fresh greens, drank some wine, and called it a night. and yes we were still wearing our melbourne cup flowers.
today nicole made a big breakfast for everyone. they really do have killer bacon here in aussie. robyn showed up and turns out she wanted to do the walk that nicole and i were planning so the three off us set off for the coogee to bondi walk along the coast. there was an outdoor art sculpture exhibit along part of the walk and it was really nice. some of them were ok, some funny, some awe inspiring, etc. nicole, robyn, and i took some funny pics.
tomorrow, some more sights in sydney, wrapping up a few odds and ends and then off to new zealand on friday.
