hiking in the heat - white mountains continued

so we considered driving down to western mass to hike it's highest peak, but decided to stay here. we went to talk to the ranger this morning simply bc there are so many trails in the white mtn area. she told us they were all great, but suggested some that were less crowded. we set off after getting some sandwich supplies. it was pretty warm but got warmer as the day& hike progressed. once we got above the tree line on bald face it was difficult to follow the trail on the very slanted rocks& quite a bit warmer. i got over heated& the clouds looked threatening so we took a different path than we intended down to shorten the hike, but still hiked 8.4miles (instead of 9.8). it didn't rain on us, but did in other places. we stopped for cold drinks& chips& change &headed home for the showers. $2 for 6.5min= heaven. once clean we found moat mountain brewery& i am working my way thru the
sampler. tmw is supposed to be cooler... hopefully i'll make it &then down to boston!
